Rules for the transport of burned patients
Air transport of patients with burns is on the following rules:
1. For transportation are eligible the patients with: II ° burns exceeding 20% of body surface area, burns II º exceeding 10% of children under 10 years old and adults above 50 years old body surface area, burns III ° in all age groups, respiratory burns, burns above II º, including the face, extremities, perineum, burn trauma patients, stabilized in the other wards, electrical burns, chemical and other, in accordance with local criteria for admission to the burns treatment center,
2. Each case of the transport of patient with burns is assessed individually by the medical dispatcher or doctor from Polish Medical Air Rescue, and requires a direct conversation with the doctor commissioning the transport. In making the decision about the transport, must be taken into consideration the following circumstances: the existence of clear benefits to the patient in relation to the risks associated with transport, the patient's clinical response to standard therapy of burns, patients in the period foregoing the transportation. The final decision about the transportation makes the Polish Medical Air Rescue.
3. Transportation should be carried to the nearest burns treatment center. Polish Medical Air Rescue, before qualifying order, may check in the nearest center to the ordering person, if there is available placce on the ward. In case of such a possibility, Polish Medical Air Rescue, can accomplish the transport to this center.
4. In the case of a patient with burns, to present current results of blood gases, ionogram and morphology is required.
Patients with suspected respiratory tract burns should be intubated for transport in accordance with arrangements
with a dispatcher or a medical doctor of Polish Medical Air Rescue.
